Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw scored a pair of first-half goals and opened the home portion of its 2022 schedule with a 2-0 win over visiting Manchester. The Tigers moved to 1-0-1, while the Spartans dropped to 0-2.
It took the Tigers just 5:55 to get on the board as
Annalise Grammel scored on an assist from
Whitney Wells. Kj Ely made it 2-0 on a double assist starting with
Macy Happe's free kick which deflected off
Macy Miller at 34:10.
DePauw outshot Manchester, 21-3, including an 11-1 edge in shots on goal. The Tigers also led in corners, 9-1.
DePauw's
Emma St. John started in goal and
Mallory Mundy recorded the team's lone save in relief. Brie Spagnolo stopped nine DePauw shots for Manchester.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, September 7, at Franklin in a 6 p.m. matchup.
