Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw opened the 2022 season with a split of its matches at the DePauw Tigers Invitational. The Tigers opened with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-16) win over Kalamazoo before Carthage rallied to defeat DePauw 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-15).
In the Kalamazoo match,
Katie Gansle led the Tigers with 12 kills, while
Avery Christy totaled 17 assists.
Emma White,
Avery Christy and Gansle each had two aces with
Lauren Ridgway leading with four blocks and
Olivia Karwin three. Karwin led with 10 digs.
Ann Lawrence paced Kalamazoo with nine kills with Brittany Miller totaling 12 digs.
DePauw held a 31-30 lead in kills, while the Tigers had nine aces to the Hornets' four.
Carthage totaled 64 kills to DePauw's 50 as the Firebirds outhit the Tigers .251-.232 for the four-set victory.
Gansle led DePauw with 11 kills with
Jessica Levy and Karwin each chipping in 10. Levy had two aces, while
Grace Myers had 20 digs and Kendall Herrrick 20 assists.
Molly Skoda led Carthage with 16 kills with Devinn Bell totaling 27 assists. Madilyn Danielson had a team-high three aces and Leena Ajibola recorded five blocks. Aubree Bucheger led with 23 digs.
DePauw faces Concordia Chicago at 10 a.m. tomorrow and Albion at 2:30 p.m.
