Ada, Ohio - DePauw trailed 24-20 in the opening set against Heidelberg, but the Tigers rallied for a 28-26 win on the way to a 3-1 (28-26, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21) win in their final game at the Ohio Northern Invitational. The Tigers improved to 6-5, while Heidelberg dropped to 5-4.
DePauw staved off four-straight set points before taking a 25-24 lead. The Tigers didn't trail again in the set and won the set on
Belle Shelton's kill. The Tigers led by as many as five in the second set, but Heidelberg erased a 24-22 Tigers lead with four-straight to win the set.
The Tigers closed the third set on a 4-0 run and fought through a tight fourth set that included seven ties and four lead changes.
DePauw outhit Heidleberg, .224-.200 and held a 58-48 edge in kills.
Lauren Ridgway led with 14 kills and
Avery Christy paced the squad with 28 assists. The Tigers recorded 19 service aces as
Jessica Levy,
Olivia Karwin and
Ashley Haas each had four. Karwin led with 21 digs and
Katie Gansle and Haas each had three block assists.
Lexi Evak paced Heidelberg with 14 kills with Julianna Pena assisting on 19. Nicole Thomas had a match highs of five aces and 22 digs. Grace Porter chipped in a match-best five block assists.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21, with a 7:30 p.m. match at Earlham.
