Oberlin, Ohio- The DePauw field hockey team ended a two-game skid with a dominating 6-0 victory over Oberlin College improving to 3-2 for the season.
The Tigers jumped to an early lead after
Hailey Nowak rebounded her deflected shot and slipped the ball past the goalie for the put-back goal in the fourth minute of play.
DePauw would record its second goal of the game at the 20-minute mark after
Amy Apfelbaum gathered a saved shot and found Nowak. After just five minutes in the third period,
Margaret Volpe pushed a pass to
Alexandra May for the Tigers' third goal of the day.
Up 3-0 heading into the fourth period, DePauw quickly doubled its lead with a third goal by Nowak to kick off the scoring frenzy. Just 48 seconds after Nowak's goal, Volpe found Apfelbaum again to put the Tigers up 5-0. The game's final goal came in the 52nd minute of play when
Allison Quackenbush found the back of the cage.
DePauw finished the afternoon outshot the Yeowomen 13-1 and tallied 12 penalty corners while giving up zero on the other end.
The Tigers remain on the road and travel to Delaware, Ohio, to take on Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday, September 18, with a start time set for noon.
