DePauw Opens Season with a 1-1 Draw at Otterbein

Westerville, Ohio - In the season opener for both teams, DePauw battled Otterbein to a 1-1 road tie.

Ellie Mahan gave DePauw a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute with an assist from Macy Happe before the Cardinals knotted the score at 1-1 on Rae Ehrbar's score from Payton Kaufman's assist in the 41st minute.

The teams totaled just five second-half shots with all three of Otterbein's coming in the final five minutes and DePauw keeper Emma St. John turning away each one to preserve the tie.
Otterbein outshot DePauw, 8-4 and held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Cardinals also led in corners, 7-0. St. John recorded three saves with Ella Schwertfager finishing with three for Otterbein.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, September 3, when it hosts Manchester in the home opener at 6 p.m.
