Gambier, Ohio- The DePauw women's tennis team improved to 7-12 and advanced to the North Coast Athletic Conference women's semifinals after defeating the three seed College of Wooster in the quarterfinals 5-2.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead over the Fighting Scots by a walkover in doubles play, but Wooster would tie the match up at one apiece after Otilia Oita and Janaki Jagannathan defeated Ellen Gardner and Kat Wilder 8-7 on number one. DePauw regained the lead heading into singles play when Kiley Shaw and Kate Stanley defeated Cherry Patlolla and Abby Kushner Benson 8-5 at number two.
The Tigers had a commanding 3-1 lead over the Fighting Scots due to another walkover at number six, requiring DePauw to win two to claim the victory over Wooster. At number three, Janaki Jagannathan earned the Fighting Scots second win of the afternoon after defeating Kiley Shaw 6-2, 6-1. Kate Stanley's 6-0, 6-1 victory at number five over Abi Geremew put the Tigers up 4-2 with three matches still competing. Clinching the win for DePauw was Lindsay Parks, who beat Abby Kushner Benson 7-5, 6-0 at number four.
The Tigers advance to the semifinals, where they will face the Ladies of Kenyon College on Saturday, April 30 at 11 am EDT.
