Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw women's tennis team beat the Principia College Panthers 8-1 at home, improving to 2-7 overall, while Principia moved to 3-6 for the year.
The Tigers opened today's match with a doubles sweep. At number two, Kiley Shaw and Kate Stanley beat the Panthers Kelsie Huss and Emma Hanser 8-1. Following suit, Lindsay Parks and Alex Preston defeated Principia's Caroline Carlson and Ruth Hummel 8-2, at number three. Completing the doubles sweep at number one was Ellen Gardner and Kat Wilder, who beat Camila Gomez and Veronica Volkart 8-0.
Lindsay Parks, extending DePauw's lead to four, beat Emma Hanser 6-1, 6-0, at number six. Clinching the win for the Tigers was Bella DeNardo, who defeated the Panthers' Ruth Hummel 6-1, 6-1, at number five.
Kate Stanley, at number four, defeated Caroline Carlson 6-0, 6-0. At number one, the Panthers' sole win was junior Camila Gomez, who defeated Ellen Gardner 6-3, 6-1. At number three, Kiley Shaw beat Veronica Volkart 6-1, 6-2. Kat Wilder would tally the Tigers' final win of the afternoon after she beat Kelsie Huss 6-2, 6-3, at number two.
The Tigers' next home match will be against NCAC West division Wittenberg on Sunday, March 13 at 1 pm EDT.
