Tigers Lose to #3 Wildcats

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw women's tennis team lost to NAIA third-ranked Indiana Wesleyan, 9-0.

Emily Connoly and Aynara Ferraz earned Indiana Wesleyan's first doubles match win after defeating Lindsay Parks and Alex Preston 8-2 at number three. The Wildcats' Ashlee Fisk and France Antezanna beat Kiley Shaw and Kate Stanley at second doubles, 8-3, followed by Maddie Bemisderfer and Lena completing the doubles sweep after defeating Ellen Gardner and Kat Wilder 8-2 at the top spot.

In singles play, Indiana Wesleyan continued to dominate. Ellie Snider beat Alex Preston 6-0, 6-0 at number six, followed by number four Thais Mendez defeating Kate Stanley 6-0, 6-0 to solidify the Wildcats' victory over the Tigers.

The Wildcats took the remaining four matches. Lena Golz beat DePauw's Kat Wilder 6-1,6-0 at number two with Ashlee Fisk defeating Kiley Shaw 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. Indiana Wesleyan's Melanie beat Bella DeNardo 6-1, 6-1, and the Wildcats' final evening victory came after Maddie Bemisderfer battled Ellen Gardner to beat Gardner 6-3, 6-3.

The Tigers are back in at the Indoor Tennis and Track Center on Saturday, February 26 at Noon in their first North Coast Athletic Conference match against Ohio Wesleyan.

As I started looking at colleges my junior year of high school, each school I visited felt like there was something missing. However, visiting DePauw again reassured my love, interest, and pride for the campus and its people.
