Decatur, Ill. - Host Millikin led all the way in a 70-42 win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 4-4, while the Big Blue improved to 6-3.Â
The Big Blue jumped out to a 10-2 lead before DePauw battled back to within one at 20-19 on
Asya Smith's jumper midway through the second. Millikin closed the half on an 11-4 run to take a 31-23 lead into halftime. The hosts pulled away in the third by outscoring the Tigers, 22-8.
Diana Burgher and
Mya Shannon each scored 12 to lead the Tigers with Burgher grabbing 11 rebounds. Shannon's first two points came at the line in the first period and gave her 1,000 for her career.
Elyce Knudsen paced Millikin with 22 points with Sophie Darden and Sarah Isaf each chipping in 12. Darden grabbed eight rebounds in the win.
The Tigers shot just 27.4 percent from the field to Millikin's 45.8 percent. The Big Blue hit seven 3-pointers to the Tigers' one. DePauw held a 43-37 rebounding edge, but committed 19 turnovers to Millikin's 13.
DePauw returns to action on Dec. 18 when it faces Grove City in the Big Island Holiday Classic in Hilo, Hawaii.
