Gambier, Ohio - DePauw opened North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 68-46 win at Kenyon in the conference opener for both schools. DePauw moved to 4-3 overall, while the Owls dropped to 1-5.
Kenyon scored the game's first two points, but DePauw scored the next 18 on the way to a 22-7 lead after the first period.
The Owls' best scoring run of the contest came early in the second as they scored nine-straight to close the deficit to 26-16. DePauw took a 39-24 advantage into the halftime intermission.
Kenyon closed to within eight at 41-33 with a 7-0 run and still trailed by just 10 at 51-41 as the teams moved to the fourth period. The Tigers put the game away with a 9-0 stretch early in the fourth.
Riley Mont paced DePauw with 14 points, while
Mya Shannon and
Moira McGinley each added 12.
Diana Burgher and
Ainsley Boras each hauled down seven boards, while
Maura Fitzgerald dished out four assists.
Mikayla Rudolph led the Owls with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Katie Orefice handed out six assists.
DePauw shot 36.8 percent from the floor to Kenyon's 39.1 percent, but the Tigers held a 44-32 rebounding edge. DePauw committed just seven turnovers to Kenyon's 19.
DePauw travels to Decatur, Ill., on Dec. 7 for a 7 p.m. CST game with Millikin.
