Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Toppled by Battling Bishops in 2-0 NCAC Semifinals

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University women's soccer team's season comes to an end after its 2-0 loss to Ohio Wesleyan in the NCAC semifinals match.

For the first 15 minutes of play, the two teams fought nerves and for position in their attacking third. After 27 minutes of play, the Battling Bishops' Ali Claus punched through the Tigers' backline and, from 20 yards, lobbed a ball past the remaining DePauw defenders for Ohio Wesleyan's first goal of the night.

Despite being down a goal, the Tigers pushed back the Battling Bishops' defense and had a couple of looks on goal but were locked down quickly by Ohio Wesleyan's Kaylee DeShong and Madison Cofer.

The Battling Bishops would extend its lead over the Tigers in the 38th minute following a scramble after a cleared corner, where Ohio Wesleyan defender Douglas chipped the ball back into DePauw's net for a 2-0 lead before the half.

Though the Tigers finished the night with just five shots on goal, with about 20 minutes left in regulation, two late corners and some persistent attack by the DePauw offense provided some promising looks; however, the Battling Bishops' defense continued to stifle any opportunity for the Tigers.

The Tigers finished its season with a 10-4-3 record overall and 5-2 in regular season NCAC play. A record that mirrored Head Coach Cristin Allen's first season with DePauw back in 2019. The senior class finished with a record of 25-19-9, one regular-season championship, and two NCAC tournament appearances.
