DePauw Tops Wooster in 2-0 Road Victory

Wooster, Ohio- The DePauw field hockey team moves to 3-0 in conference play after its 2-0 victory over the Wooster Fighting Scots, putting the Tigers on top of the NCAC standings.

The Tigers' first goal of the afternoon came at the 11th-minute mark when Tiala Ortega found Hailey Nowak in front of the Fighting Scots cage.

DePauw's aggressive attacking throughout the remainder of the half helped the Tigers hold onto its lead, resulting in DePauw outshooting Wooster 9 to 2 before the half.

Neither team could find the back of the cage in the third period; however, the Tigers doubled its lead in the 55th minute following a corner penalty. Marley Heitman gathered a pass across the striking circle and skipped a pass to Nowak for her sixth goal of the season.

The Tigers improve to 7-4 overall and return to Greencastle, Ind. on Saturday, October 15, and host Oberlin College in a matchup set to start at noon.

I chose DePauw because it allows me to balance academics and athletics while being in an environment that will also challenge me with both.
