Wooster, Ohio- In its first North Coast Athletic Conference matchup of the season, the DePauw women's soccer team shut out Wooster 1-0 on the road.

DePauw's first-half pressure in its attacking half proved too much for Wooster to come back from in the second half. In the 23rd minute of play,
Sydney Calisto slipped a pass wide to
Ellie Mahan, who then switched the field with a lobbed cross finding
Annalise Grammel for a one-touch goal to put the Tigers up 1-0.

The Tigers finished the first half outshooting the Fighting Scots 11-5 and tallied four corner attempts while only giving up one on the other end.

In the second half, Wooster came out with a vengeance putting up 13 shots to DePauw's nine and took six corners to the Tigers' one. As time wound down, the two teams' physicality led to 10 fouls committed by DePauw.

Though the Fighting Scots looked to knot up the game, the Tigers held their ground and recorded its first victory over Wooster since 2016.
Emma St. John completed the afternoon with five saves, while the Fighting Scots Kameryn Nelson totaled eight saves.Â

DePauw improves to 6-2-3 overall and 1-0 in NCAC play. The Tigers return to Greencastle, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 12, against Ohio Wesleyan at 7 p.m. EDT.
