Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University field hockey team clinched a share of the North Coast Athletic Conference regular season championship after beating the Earlham College Quakers 4-0 at home. The Tigers improved to 11-5 overall and 7-0 in NCAC, while the Quakers fell to 0-17 overall.
Marley Heitman scored the Tigers' first goal in the 10th minute after gathering a pass from
Margaret Volpe following a penalty corner. DePauw put in its second goal of the game in the 21st minute of play when
Alexandra May found
Allison Quackenbush for her seventh goal of the season.
Up 2-0 at the start of the third period, the Tigers stretched its lead to four when
Amy Apfelbaum snuck a pass to May for goal number three in the 38th minute. The final goal for the Tigers came in the 41st minute of play when Volpe found Quackenbush for her second goal of the game.
DePauw finished the evening outshooting Earlham 8-1 and had the edge in penalty corners, attempting four corners to the Quakers' one.
The Quakers Rachel Alma completed the night with two saves inside the cage. In contrast, the Tigers goalkeeping duo of
Bella Lauber and
Scarlett Oaks tallied DePauw's ninth shutout of the season.
The Tigers are back in action at Reavis Stadium on Saturday, October 29, for its senior day! DePauw takes on the Denison Big Red at noon.
