Greencastle, Ind.: The DePauw men's swimming and diving team fell to Wabash College 187 to 107 in its first home dual of the season.
Despite falling to the Little Giants, the Tigers completed the afternoon with 18 top-three finishes; three first-place finishes, ten runner-up finishes, and five third-place finishes.
Patrick Unterreiner led the Tigers in points, finishing first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.72), runner-up in the 200-yard IM (2:03.49), and third in the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:01.82.
Pulling in 13 individual points each was Brock Kinnamon and James Shorney. Kinnamon finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:26.13) and, with a time of 53.89, came in second in the 100-yard butterfly. Shorney took first in the 100-yard free with a time of 46.91 and second in the 50-yard free (21.73).
Three more Tigers would finish the afternoon with two top-three individual finishes. Braden Mallery took second in the 1000-yard free (10:27.57) and the 500-yard free (5:03.87). Seth Fagen completed the meet with two second-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (55.12) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.22).
Will Plumb earned a third-place finish in both the 100-yard backstroke (56.78) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.69).
Rounding out the individual top-three finishers were Tommy Hackley, who swam the 200-yard free in 1:49.77 for second-place, Alex Rodgers and Ben Mennitt took third place in the 50-yard free (22.68) and 100-yard butterfly (54.36), respectively.
In the relay events, the Tigers' earned two second-place finishes. Fagen, Unterreiner, Robbie Sheffield, and Kinnamon finished the 200-yard medley relay in 1:38.94. While Rodgers, Ethan Marunde, Kinnamon, and Shorney finished the 200-yard free relay in 1:27.15.
The Tigers' next meet will be on the road against Rose-Hulman on Friday, January 7.
