Wilmington, Ohio - The 19th-ranked DePauw women's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season following a 58-55 win over Calvin at Wilmington College's Fred Raizk Memorial Classic. The Knights dropped to 2-2 with the loss.

Calvin jumped out to a 5-0 start and held a 17-14 edge after the opening quarter. Calvin hit a three in the closing minute as the teams went to the intermission with DePauw leading, 29-24.

DePauw extended its lead back to nine in the first three minutes of the third before the Knights chipped away and closed to within two at 37-35 with four minutes left in the third. Maddie Howe, Lydia Stullken and Mya Shannon each hit buckets as DePauw headed to the fourth with a 43-35 advantage.

Moira McGinley's basket in the opening minute of the fourth pushed the DePauw lead to double digits at 45-35.  The Tigers went scoreless over their next four possessions and Calvin cut the lead to 45-41 with 6:40 remaining.

Campbell Montgomery ended the run with a bucket before Stullken hit one of two free throws. Calvin evened the count at 50-50 and the teams traded 3-pointers before Mya Shannon knocked in a pair of free throws to give the Tigers a 55-53 lead with 1:12 left.

I chose DePauw because I loved the sense of community on the campus during my visits. I also felt DePauw had a really good balance between academics and athletics, while still providing the opportunity to travel abroad and explore other interests.

I loved the friendly atmosphere at DePauw right when I visited on campus! I also thought that DePauw offered a lot of ways to grow as a student and to explore what I would like to study. Lastly, I really liked the fact that I could play basketball and be involved in other things that DePauw has!
