Tenth-ranked Tigers Open Season with Win at Earlham

Richmond, Ind. - DePauw, ranked 10th in the D3hoops.com poll and 12th in the Division III Coaches' preseason rankings, never trailed in its season-opening game at Earlham on the way to a 69-43 victory over the Quakers. Earlham dropped to 0-2 with the loss.

The Tigers scored the game's first eight points with four different players reaching the scorebook and built a 19-6 lead at the quarter break. Earlham briefly trimmed the DePauw lead to single digits, but the guests went on a 10-0 run to extend the lead to 29-10 with 3:46 left in the half.  The Tigers headed to the intermission with a 35-17 lead.

DePauw put the game away in the third on the strength of a 14-4 stretch.

Sydney Kopp paced the Tigers with 17 points, while Mya Shannon added 12 and Claire Keefe 11. Keefe and Campbell Montgomery each grabbed seven rebounds with Grace Kinsey and Shannon each dishing out three assists.

Kyra Joseph and Neely Trenshaw each had seven points for the Quakers with Rosie Newhart hauling down seven rebounds.

DePauw shot 40.4 percent from the floor to Earlham's 30.6 percent and the Tigers held a 43-31 rebounding edge. 

The Tigers travel to Wisconsin-Whitewater where they'll face Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday, November 15, at 6 p.m.. CST
