Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw (25-2) has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship and will face Trine (24-3) on Friday in a first-round game at Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Illinois. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CST. Illinois Wesleyan (24-3) will face Marietta (24-4) in the other first-round game which will follow. The winners square off on Saturday night at 7 p.m. CST.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens and will be available at Illinois Wesleyan's Shirk Center. Children under two are admitted at no charge and the doors will open at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
The Tigers, who lost to Wittenberg by a 72-68 score in last Friday's North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals, are making their 19th overall appearance in the national tournament and hold the second-longest active Division III streak with 15 straight appearances dating back to 2004. DePauw holds a 32-16 record in tournament play including three semifinal appearances and national championships in 2007 and 2013.
DePauw and Trine have met just once with the Tigers taking a 64-54 win on December 29, 2008, in Neal Fieldhouse.
Trine also earned an at-large spot after losing at Hope by a 68-62 count in Saturday's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship game.
Marietta earned automatic qualification into the 64-team field after defeating Ohio Northern, 85-68, in Saturday's Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament final, while Illinois Wesleyan also earned an automatic bid with a 62-60 win over Wheaton (Ill.) in Saturday's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin title game.
