DePauw Upsets Wisconsin-Whitewater; Defeats No. 32 Kenyon

Madison, Wis. -- No. 31 DePauw upset No. 22 Wisconsin-Whitewater 5-4 to open the Midwest Invitational in Madison Wis. on Friday and then used the momentum to defeat No. 32 Kenyon 6-3 later in the day.

Gretchen Wilder collected two wins for the Tigers. She won at No. 2 singles 6-4, 7-5, and joined Maddie Lee in an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

Megan Galle also pulled off double victories. She won at No. 6 singles 6-3, 7-5 and aided Sarah Wilder in an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles. 

Alyssa Seneviratne picked up DePauw's other win, coming back and taking a thrilling 10-game pro third set 2-6, 6-1, 11-9. Elsewhere, her and Meredith Breda fell at No. 2 doubles 8-4.

Lee lost at No. 1 singles against Wisconsin-Whitewater's (15-5) fifth-ranked Megan Humphreys 7-5, 6-0. Ali Bush lost at No. 3 singles 7-5, 6-2, and Colleen Morris fell at the No. 4 flight 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.

Against Kenyon (6-7), DePauw captured wins in the 3-6 singles matches and at No. 2 doubles.

With everyone playing in the same flights, Bush won 7-5, 6-3; Morris won 6-3, 7-6 (7-2); Seneviratne won 6-0, 6-3; and Galle took a 6-2, 6-3 win.

Seneviratne and Breda took their doubles match 8-6.

DePauw improves to 9-4 and will wrap up play at the Midwest Invitational on Saturday.
