Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw closed the first half with an 18-4 run and ended the third with a 13-2 stretch and rolled to an 80-49 win over visiting John Carroll in the final game of the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Classic. The Tigers, ranked 12th in the latest coaches' poll and 13th by D3hoops.com, improved to 12-1 with their eighth straight win, while the Blue Streaks dropped to 2-9. The teams were locked up in a tight battle throughout the first period that included two ties and three lead changes with DePauw pulling ahead for a 15-13 edge after the opening 10 minutes. John Carroll scored the first three of the second to take a 16-15 lead, but the Tigers scored six straight to start an 18-4 run that propelled them to a 33-20 halftime lead. DePauw held the Blue Streaks scoreless over the final four minutes and didn't commit a turnover in the second period after totaling six in the first.

The margin was still 13 at 46-33 after John Carroll's Kahrin Spear hit a jumper with 2:54 left in the third, but Maya Howard came right back with a 3-pointer that started a string of seven straight Tigers points and keyed a 13-2 run that pushed DePauw's lead to 59-35 as the teams headed to the fourth. 

Howard, the Classic Most Valuable Player, led all scorers with 20, while Claire Keefe followed with 14 and all-tournament selection Emily Budde 12. Abby Adler paced John Carroll with 13.

Keefe, Hayley Cange and Kylie Morris each grabbed seven rebounds as DePauw held a 42-26 edge on the boards including 22-5 in the second half. Chelbi Graham grabbed seven for John Carroll. The Blue Streaks were represented on the all-classic team by Nicole Heffington.

DePauw shot 43.6 percent from the floor for the game including 54.2 percent in the second half, while John Carroll connected on 36.4 percent. The Tigers hit 28 of 35 from the line to the Blue Streaks' 6 of 10.

In the day's first game, Wisconsin-Stevens Point topped Saint Mary's 67-48. Taylor Barrett paced the Pointers with 21 points, while Giavanna Paradiso paced the Belles with 16. Each earned spots on the all-classic team.

DePauw returns to North Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, January 2, with a 3 p.m. game at Ohio Wesleyan.
