St. Petersburg, Fla. - DePauw held Wiliams to just 11 points in the second and third quarters combined and moved to 9-1 with a 57-47 win over Williams in the D3 St. Pete Classic at Eckerd College. The Tigers, ranked 12th in the latest coaches' poll and 13th by D3hoops.com, extended their win streak to five. The Ephs dropped to 6-4.

Williams connected on 7 of 13 from the field in the opening quarter to take an 18-13 lead and extended it to seven early in the second. DePauw closed the half on an 8-1 run to even the count at 23-23. The Tigers held Williams scoreless from the field over the last 8:45. 

The teams were still tied at 27-27 before DePauw took off on a 12-2 stretch including 8-0 over the final five minutes of the third to take a 39-29 advantage as the teams headed to the final period.

The Ephs trimmed the gap to eight early in the final period, but Sydney Kopp buried a three before Emily Budde and Kylie Morris added buckets to push the margin to 15. Williams scored the next eight to cut the lead to eight with just over one minute remaining, but the Tigers sealed the win by hitting 7 of 8 from the line over the final 50 seconds.

Maya Howard and Budde each scored 13 for the Tigers, while Kopp added 10. Howard grabbed eight rebounds and Budde had four assists in the win.

Amanni Fernandez paced Williams with 17 points, while Lauren Vostal grabbed 10 rebounds. 

DePauw shot 38.9 percent from the floor to Williams' 36.5 percent, but the Tigers hit 4 of 11 3-pointers and the Ephs just 3 of 20. 

The Tigers face Oneonta at 5 p.m. tomorrow in the final game of the tournament.
