The No. 22 DePauw women's tennis team kicked off North Coast Athletic Conference West Division Play on Friday with an 8-1 victory over Ohio Wesleyan.
The Tigers got off to a quick start in doubles play, giving up just four games between the three matches. At No. 1 doubles Maddie Lee and Gretchen Wilder won 8-1; at No. 2 doubles Alyssa Senevirante and Ali Bush won 8-2; and at No. 3 doubles Megan Galle and Colleen Morris won 8-1.
In singles action, Galle at No. 6 singles made quick work of her opposition with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Wilder was right behind with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.
Morris won at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-4; Lee won at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-1; and Bush won at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-4. Senevirante took the lone loss at No. 2 singles to Lauren Corcoran 6-2, 6-3.
The win moves DePauw to 8-9 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC West. Denison holds the top spot in the division at 2-0, but the two teams meet Saturday at DePauw where the women will host the Big Red at 9:30 a.m. and Wittenberg at 2 p.m. to close the regular season.
