St. Louis, Mo. - In a battle of nationally-ranked teams, 14th-ranked DePauw drop and 8-1 match at #13 Washington-St. Louis. DePauw moved to 2-1 on the season, while the Bears improved to 2-1.
The Bears took a 1-0 lead as the number-two doubles duo of Aly Coran and Rebecca Ho topped DePauw's Ali Bush and Alyssa Senevirante by an 8-2 count. The Tigers evened the match at 1-1 as the third doubles tandem of Megan Galle and Colleen Morris defeated Lily Schroeder and Erin Wong, 8-4. Washington grabbed the lead for good after the number-one doubles team of Grace Deering and Jamie Silverberg were 8-6 victors over Maddie Lee and Gretchen Wilder.
Washington swept the singles matches with five coming in straight sets. Deering topped Wilder 6-1, 6-1 at third singles before Coran defeated Morris 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth spot.
Lisa Chionis clinched the team win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at sixth singles over Galle. Ho topped Lee 6-1, 6-4 at first singles with Silverberg taking a 6-4, 6-3 win over Senevirante at the second spot. Lily Schroeder wrapped up the match with a fifth singles win that went three sets over Bush 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).
DePauw hosts the 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III National Indoor Team Championship Feb. 26-28. The Tigers open with a 3:30 p.m. match on Friday against Carnegie Mellon.
