11th-ranked Tigers Win St. Pete's Classic

St. Petersburg, Fla. - In a six-school field that included Division I South Dakota State, 11th-ranked DePauw totaled 102 points and won the St. Pete's Classic. South Dakota State was second with 98 points, while Wooster was third with 74.

DePauw's 800-yard freestyle relay of Erin Horne, Angela Newlon, Kirsten Olson and Caroline Bridges won in 8:07.77 as did the 3x100 butterfly relay of Jamie Fritsch, Mary Woods and Newlon in 3:03.89.

Kirsten Olson, Marihelen Gallagher and Annie Graves touched first in the 3x100 backstroke relay in 3:10.86, while Horne, Bridges, Olson and Newlon won the 500 free relay in 4:50.15.

The Tigers' 400 free relay of Newlon, Olson, Woods and Bridges wrapped up the meet with a win in 3:45.20.

"I was pleased with our performance," DePauw head coach Ben Hewitt said. "It's a big win, capped off by beating a strong Division I program and showed off our depth and versatility at an open invitational."

DePauw returns to action on Friday, with a 6 p.m. dual meet at Ohio Wesleyan
