Greencastle, Ind. - Just nine days after losing to Chicago in the opening round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Championship, 17th-ranked DePauw came back to top the Maroons, 5-4, on the DePauw indoor courts. The Tigers improved to 4-4, while the Maroons are now 6-4.
The Tigers took a 3-0 lead after doubles play as Claire Marshall and Maggie MacPhail topped Megan Tang and Ariana Iranopur, 8-5, at the top spot, while Julie Witwer and Kaitlin Pickrel topped Tiffany Chen and Courtney Warren at second doubles, 8-4. Taylor Mahr and Carolyn Huerth defeated Stephanie Lee and Jasmine Lee, 9-7, at third doubles.
DePauw's two singles wins came at the second spot where MacPhail defeated Tang 6-3, 6-1 and at number four with Wittwer winning over Chen 6-4, 6-3.
The Tigers return to action on March 18 when they host Wittenberg at 4 p.m. in a North Coast Athletic Conference match.
