Fredericksburg, Va. - In a matchup of top 20 teams, 14th-ranked DePauw took a 5-4 victory at 20th-ranked Mary Washington to improve to 7-6. The Eagles dropped to 9-5.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles as the number-two duo of Julie Wittwer and Kaitlin Pickrel defeated Mackenzie Smith and Caroline Mosberg 9-8 (8-5) and the third doubles team of Taylor Mahr and Carolyn Huerth were 9-8 (8-3) winners over Alina Suyama and Hannah Jabusch.
The teams then split the six singles matches with DePauw's Claire Marshall taking a 6-3, 6-3 win over Shelby Harris at first singles, Maggie MacPhail defeating Alex Ritter at the second spot by a 6-0, 6-2 score and Taylor Mahr topping Caroline Mosberg 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at the third position.
DePauw wraps up its spring break trip tomorrow when it faces top-ranked Emory at 9 a.m. at Washington and Lee.
