Lexington, Va. - The 14th-ranked Tigers dropped to 6-6 on the season following today's 8-0 loss to third-ranked Williams College at Washington and Lee University. The Ephs improved to 6-0.
Williams swept the doubles play as the number-one team of Maria Pylypiv and Julia Cancio claimed an 8-5 victory over Claire Marshall and Maggie MacPhail, while the second doubles tandem of Linda Shin and Juli Raventos defeated Julie Wittwer and Kaitlin Pickrel 8-2. Maya Hart and Rebecca Curran were also 8-2 winners over at number three doubles over Taylor Mahr and Carolyn Huerth at the third spot.
In number one singles, Raventos topped Marshall 6-0, 6-4, while Shin was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over MacPhail at number two. Curran defeated Mahr (DPUW) 6-2, 6-0 at third singles, while Mia Gancayco won over Wittwer by a 6-3, 7-5 score at fourth singles. Hannah Atkinson defeated Pickrel 6-2, 6-3 at fifth singles and Alex Stone was leading Carolyn Huerth 6-4, 2-2 when the match was halted.
The Tigers travel to Mary Washington tomorrow for a 10 a.m. match against the 20th-ranked Eagles.
