Greencastle, Ind. - The 11th-ranked Tigers opened play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Team Indoor Championship with a 6-3 loss to 12th-ranked Chicago.
DePauw, seeded fourth, dropped to 2-2 on the season and faces seventh-seed Sewanee tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. in the consolation bracket. Fifth-seed Chicago moved to 5-2 and will face top-seed Johns Hopkins at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Taylor Mahr and Carolyn Huerth picked up a win at third doubles over Jasmine Lee and Lucy Tang, 8-6.
In singles play, Kaitlin Pickrel topped Courtney Warren 6-2, 6-3 at the fifth spot, while Maddie Lee defeated Sruthi Ramaswami 7-6 (7-2), 6-5, retired, at sixth singles.
The Tigers dropped three-set matches at second and third singles after winning the first set.
