#12 Tigers Knock off Ninth-Ranked Maroons

Burr Ridge, Ill. - Just eight days after dropping a 5-4 decision to University of Chicago, the 12th-ranked Tigers knocked off the Maroons by a 6-3 score. DePauw improved to 7-2 with the win, while Chicago dropped to 5-3.

DePauw took a 2-1 lead after doubles as Caroline Emhardt and Maggie MacPhail defeated Jordan Appel and Tiffany Chen at number-two, 8-5. Julie Wittwer and Kaitlin Pickrel topped Laura Anderson and Kelsey McGillis 9-8 (7-4) at third doubles.

The Tigers wrapped up the match wins at two, four, five and sixth singles, respectively. Claire Marshall won at the number-two spot by a 6-0, 7-5 score over Helen Sdvizhkov while Taylor Mahr rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over McGillis at the fourth position.

Emhardt claimed the third set at fifth singles 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (10-3) over Stephanie Lee and Carolyn Huerth won at six singles by a 6-0, 6-1 score over Anderson.

The Tigers return to the courts on Sunday, March 16, when they host Wittenberg in a North Coast Athletic Conference West Division match.
