Indianapolis, Ind. - Appearances in the consolation finals by a pair of relays and Casey Hooker's (Jr., Rensselaer, Ind./Rensselaer Central) all-America showing in the 200-yard freestyle highlighted DePauw's second day of competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
The 200 free relay of Alex Alfonso (Jr., New Albany, Ohio/New Albany), Jack Burgeson (Sr., Saint Louis Park, Minn./Saint Louis Park), Hooker and Blake Lehmann (So., Champaign, Ill./Champaign Central) was 10th in the prelims in 1:22.39 before finishing 12th in the finals in 1:22.27.
Hooker was fifth in the 200 free prelims in 1:38.56 to break his own school record by .02 seconds and sixth in the finals in 1:38.98.
DePauw's 400 medley relay of Alfonso, Matt Gleason (Sr., New Albany, Ohio/New Albany), Lehmann and Burgeson was 16th in prelims in 3:23.53 before finishing 13th in the finals in 3:21.86.
Also in the prelims, Lehmann was 23rd in the 100 butterfly in 49.67 and Alfonso 39th in 50.35. Alex Alex Grissom (So., Franklin, Ind./Franklin) was 27th in the 200 free in 1:40.48.
With 44 total points, DePauw is 16th in the team standings at the halfway point of the Championships. Friday's prelim competition starts at 10 a.m.
