February 27, 2010, Jackson, Miss. — DePauw defeated Rhodes by a 77-50 score in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinal and advanced to its seventh conference championship game in eight years of SCAC play.
The 14th-ranked Tigers improved to 24-3 with their 20th straight win, while the Lynx finished their season at 14-13. DePauw faces Centre in tomorrow's 2:30 p.m. CST title game.
DePauw never trailed in the contest and quickly built a 20-6 lead with 11:44 left in the first. The Tigers stretched that lead to as many as 23 on a couple of occasions before heading to the intermission with a 48-29 lead.
Rhodes closed the gap to 57-40 with 14:29 remaining, but the Tigers used an 18-2 run to put the game away.
Jenna Fernandez (pictured) led the Tigers with 17 points, while Brooke Osborne added 12 and Emily Marshall posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kate Walker dished out six assists in the win.
Becky Atnip led Rhodes with 22 points, while Sharwil Bell finished with five rebounds.
The Tigers shot 52.5 percent from the floor including 64.3 percent in the first half and held the Lynx to just 28 percent.
