Seventh-ranked DePauw Men Drop One-Point Decision at 14th-ranked Chicago

Cook_John_200809msw.jpg January 30, 2010, Chicago, Ill. —  The seventh-ranked DePauw men's swimming and diving team dropped to 5-2 on the season following a 150-149 loss at 14th-ranked University of Chicago.

John Cook (pictured) was a triple-winner for the Tigers with wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.82), the 50 free (21.52) and the 100 free (46.57).

Robby Spichiger was a double-winner in the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:57.29 and the 500 free in 4:47.95. Also picking up DePauw wins were Matt Kukurugya in the 100 breaststroke (59.16) and Patrick Springer in one-meter diving with 253.50 points.

The Tigers' 200 medley relay of Steve Klabak, Kukurugya, Josh Baugh and Johnny Montgomery won in 1:37.17 as did the 200 free relay of Montgomery, Andrew Nash, Brendan Flores and Klabak in 1:26.32

DePauw hosts Butler and IUPUI on Friday, February 5, at 6 p.m.
