December 13, 2008, Rock Island, Ill. — Emily Marshall (pictured) scored a career-high 16 points and led DePauw to a 58-43 win at Augustana. The Tigers improved to 5-3 with the win, while the Vikings dropped to 1-6 on the season.
The host Vikings held an early 9-6 lead before the Tigers went on a 13-2 run over a seven-minute stretch and gained a 19-11 advantage. DePauw led by as many as 11 in the half on the way to a 26-16 halftime lead.
Augustana outscored DePauw 8-3 in the opening 2:22 of the second half to close the gap to five, but the Tigers put together a 12-4 stretch to push the lead to 41-28. The margin reached as many as 17 on a couple of occasions in the final 10 minutes.
Marshall hit 8-of-16 field goals and was the Tigers' lone double-digit scorer. Andrea Travelstead hauled down seven rebounds as DePauw held a 41-30 edge on the boards. Cassie Pruzin and Katie Mathews each dished out five assists.
Kristen Fox paced Augustana with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Kani Kasten added 13 points.
Augustana connected on 43.9 percent from the field to DePauw's 37.5 percent, but the Tigers snagged 20 offensive rebounds which led to a 19-7 edge in second-chance points.
DePauw returns to action on Monday, December 22, when it hosts Baldwin-Wallace at 5 p.m.
