March 9, 2007, Boston, Mass. - Ninth-ranked DePauw dominated throughout their sectional semifinal matchup at 13th-ranked Emmanuel and advanced to the sectional finals (national quarterfinals) with a 74-50 victory over the Saints.
DePauw advances to Saturday's 7 p.m. sectional final where it will face 28-2 Calvin. The seventh-ranked Knights defeated Southern Maine in tonight's first game by a 60-56 score. DePauw and Calvin last met in the 2005 second round with the Knights winning in Greencastle, 72-63. Saturday's game will be broadcast on WGRE with the pregame show starting at 6:45.
The Tigers never trailed in the win as they expanded a 15-12 lead to 30-14 with a 15-2 run in the first half. DePauw closed the opening 20 minutes with an 8-1 run to take a 41-21 lead at the break.
DePauw then opened the second half with a 15-4 stretch and pushed the margin over 30.
Cassie Pruzin was the lone DePauw double-figure scorer with 12 as she hit 3-of-4 from three-point range. In all, 13 of the Tigers' 15 players scored. Jade Paez led Emmanuel with 16 points, while LaTeisha Johnson added 12.
The Tigers hit 43.1 percent from the floor and knocked down 7-of-11 three-pointers. DePauw's defense, which limited Emmanuel to a season-low 50 points, allowed the Saints to shoot just 33.3 percent from the floor.
DePauw held a commanding 52-31 edge on the boards and grabbed 17 on the offensive glass. Emily Marshall paced DePauw with 10 rebounds.
