11th-ranked Tigers headed to NCAA Championship for fourth straight year

February 25, 2007, Memphis, Tenn. - The 11th-ranked Tigers captured their third Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship in the last four years and earned a fourth straight NCAA Division III Championship appearance after a 73-60 win over Oglethorpe in the championship game. The Tigers improved to 25-3 with the win, while the Stormy Petrels dropped to 21-7.

DePauw trailed 50-46 after Tina Grace capped a 7-0 Oglethorpe run with a driving layup with 9:32 remaining. The Tigers, however, took the lead for good by scoring the game's next nine points. Jenna Fernandez started the run with a putback, while Liz Bondi added a layup and Cassie Pruzin hit two free throws before Gretchen Haehl delivered a three-point play to make it 55-50 with 7:30 left.

Courtney Reed's basket closed the gap to three, but Caitlin McGonigal extended the margin to six with a three-pointer. Katie Kulavic's drive made it 58-54 with 6:20 remaining before Bondi nailed a jumper and McGonigal buried her second straight trey to make it 63-54 with 5:23 left. The Stormy Petrels trailed by eight with just under three minutes to play, but DePauw scored five straight and sealed the win.

Bondi earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors for the second straight years after posting a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in the title game. Emily Marshall also earned a spot on the all-tournament team by adding nine points and nine rebounds.

Kulavic paced Oglethorpe with 16 points, while Anna Findley added 12. Both were named to the all-tournament team along with Rhodes' Ashley Farrell. Brittany Corbett finished with 11 and Caitlin Brightwell added 10, while Jasmine Johnson led the way with eight rebounds.

DePauw shot 38.5 percent for the game, while Oglethorpe connected on 39.6 percent. DePauw outrebounded the Stormy Petrels, 42-36, and committed just eight turnovers.
