February 24, 2007, Memphis, Tenn. - The 11th-ranked and top-seeded Tigers hit a trio of three-pointers in the opening 90 seconds of their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinal contest against fifth-seeded Austin and never looked back on the way to a 67-38 quarterfinal victory.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 24-3 and advanced to Sunday's SCAC championship game for the fifth time in the five-year history of the tournament. DePauw faces Oglethorpe in Sunday's Noon CST title game. The Stormy Petrels defeated Rhodes by a 73-68 count in today's first semifinal game.
Kalei Lowes hit a three just 17 seconds into the game and Cassie Pruzin added a pair to lift the Tigers to a 9-0 lead with 18:30 left in the first half. They extended that margin to as mcuh as 21 on the way to a 38-19 halftime lead. DePauw sealed the win after opening the second half with an 8-3 stretch.
Liz Bondi paced the Tigers with 13 points and shared the rebounding lead with Jenna Fernandez as each had six. Suzy Doughty added four assists and four steals. Katy Williams led Austin with 13 points.
DePauw shot 40.6 percent from the floor and held the Kangaroos to just 30.2 percent shooting in earning the win.
