February 23, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - The 11th-ranked and top-seeded Tigers improved to 23-3 and advanced to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinals following an 82-58 win over Sewanee in the quarterfinals. Sewanee finished the season at 9-16. DePauw faces Austin in Saturday's second semifinal game after the Kangaroos defeated Hendrix 82-69. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CST from Rhodes College.
DePauw closed the first half with an 11-4 run to take a 43-28 halftime lead before opening the second half with a 9-2 stretch which pushed the margin to 22. The advantage reached as much as 31 midway through the second half.
Liz Bondi paced the Tigers with 19 points, while Cassie Pruzin added 10. Emily Marshall grabbed eight rebounds with Suzy Doughty and Pruzin each dishing out six assists. Doughty broke the DePauw single-season assists record previously held by Michele Daily during the 1983-84 season.
Dani Pettay paced Sewanee with 26 points, while Courtney Childress added 12 points and a team-high five rebounds.
DePauw shot 50 percent for the game and held Sewanee to 40.8 percent, while holding a 38-22 advantage on the boards.
