February 18, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - The 11th-ranked Tigers wrapped up the top seed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament with a 95-58 win over visiting Oglethorpe. DePauw improved to 22-3 overall and 12-2 in the SCAC, while Oglethorpe dropped to 19-6 overall and 11-3 in the conference. The win also extended DePauw's SCAC record for consecutive home conference wins to 33.
The Stormy Petrels took an early 9-5 lead, but DePauw responded with a 16-3 run to take the lead for good and went to the intermission with a 47-28 advantage. Oglethorpe closed to within 15 early in the second half, but DePauw scored the next seven to push the margin to 22.
Liz Bondi led the Tigers with 17, while Gretchen Haehl added 14 followed by Suzy Doughty with 13 and Cassie Pruzin with 11. Bridget Bailey grabbed a team-high six rebounds as DePauw held a 37-30 edge on the boards.
Anna Findley led Oglethorpe with 12, while Katie Kulavic added 11 and Tina Grace scored 10 and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
DePauw hit 51.5 percent from the field and nailed 10 of 17 three-point shots, while Oglethorpe shot 36.8 percent for the game and just 31 percent in the first half. The Stormy Petrels also committed 26 turnovers which the Tigers turned into 26 points.
The Tigers face Sewanee in the opening round of the SCAC tournament on Friday, February 23, at 6 p.m. CST while Oglethorpe takes on Southwestern at 1 p.m. CST.
