February 11, 2007, Sherman, Texas - Eighth-ranked DePauw's eight-game winning streak came to an end as the Tigers dropped a 61-57 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference decision at Austin.
The Tigers dropped to 20-3 overall and 10-2 in the SCAC, while the Kangaroos improved to 13-8 overall and 7-5 in the conference.
DePauw got off to a strong start in taking a 10-3 lead before Austin came back to within two at 20-18 with just over nine minutes left in the half. The Tigers scored nine straight to take an 11-point advantage and later pushed the margin to 37-22 with 3:18 remaining in the half.
The Kangaroos scored the final seven points of the half to close the halftime gap to 39-33 and then put together a 9-2 stretch over the opening four minutes of the second half to take their first lead of the game. In fact it was the first time a DePauw opponent has led since Austin held an early lead in the January 14 meeting.
The Tigers pushed the lead to 51-47 with 9:22 left in the contest, but the Kangaroos scored seven straight to regain the lead at 54-51 with 7:36 remaining. Bridget Bailey's layup with 3:40 left closed Austin's lead to 58-57, but also marked DePauw's final points of the contest. Ceren Unal connected on a free throw with 19 seconds left and Raney Bauer made a pair in the closing seconds to seal the win.
Liz Bondi hit 11 of 15 from the floor for a game-high 27 points and added a game-high 10 rebounds. The Tigers shot just 35.1 percent for the game including just 25 percent in the second half. Bauer led Austin with 19, while Cat Moran added 11.
DePauw hosts Sewanee on Friday at 6 p.m.
