November 24, 2007, Crestview Hills, Ky. - The Tigers, ranked second in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll and fifth by D3hoops.com, improved to 3-0 following a 70-63 win over Case Western Reserve in the Julie Costello Memorial Tournament at Thomas More.
DePauw takes on the hosts at 4 p.m., Sunday, in the predetermined matchup. Thomas More defeated Centre, 61-52.
The Tigers led by as many as 14 in the first half after scoring eight straight in a 2:32 stretch late in the half. DePauw led 38-26 at the break.
DePauw still led by 13 early in the second half, before the Spartans scored seven straight capped by Mary Herendeen's three-pointer with 14:16 left.
The Tigers led 66-56 after Jenna Fernandez's layup with 1:58 left, but Ashleigh Tondo naled a three with 1:42 left and Herendeen knocked down a jumper with 41 seconds remaining following a DePauw turnover.
Gretchen Haehl hit two free throws with 24 seconds left and Herendeen's layup with 14 seconds left made it 68-63, but Cassie Pruzin's two free throws with 10 seconds left sealed the win.
Pruzin led all scorers with a career-high 21 including 5-of-9 three-point shooting. Kalei lowes added 11 followed by Fernandez with 10. Ashley Horton led Case Western with 18 followed by Herendeen and Tondo with 14 apiece.
The Spartans outrebounded DePauw, 41-28 as Horton grabbed 14. Andrea Travelstead led DePauw with seven boards. Haehl dished out four assists and Pruzin had five steals in the win, while Horton added 10 assists and three steals in the loss.
