BOX SCORES: DePauw-Marian | Chicago-Transylvania

November 24, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw improved to 3-0 and advanced to Sunday's 4 p.m. Mike Rokicki Community Versus Cancer Challenge championship game following an 83-72 win over Marian (Ind.). The Knights suffered their first loss in five tries this season.

The Tigers take on Chicago after the Maroons defeated Transylvania by an 89-75 score in the second game. Transylvania and Marian sqaure off in the 2 p.m. third place game.

Marian scored the game's first two points, but DePauw scored the next 13 and never trailed again in claiming the victory. The Tigers took a 40-30 lead into the intermission and extended it to as many as 15 in the first five minutes of the second half before the Knights closed to within five midway through the half.

DePauw rebult the lead to as many as 16 at 69-53 with just under seven minutes left, but Marian closed the gap to 75-70 after Jordan Tucker's three-pointer with 1:46 left. Brian Oilar drained a three from the corner with 1:10 remaining and pushed the margin to eight.

The Knights' JR Howell hit a pair of free throws with 57 seconds remaining to make it 78-72, but Mike Moore hit a pair of free throws with 49 seconds left and Steve Lemasters buried a three with 12 seconds on the clock.

Moore led all scorers with a career-high 28 along with eight assists and three steals, while hitting 5-of-9 three-pointers. Oilar posted a double-double with 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds, while Stephen Schott added 14 points.

Tucker paced Marian with 20 points with Heath Chamberlain adding 14 and Brandon Buscher 13. Buscher hauled down eight rebounds as DePauw held a 36-30 edge on the boards.

In the nightcap, Chicago shot 64 percent for the game including 73.7 percent in the second half and held a 25-15 edge on the boards in improving to 2-1. Transylvania dropped to 1-2 with the loss. 

The Maroons used an 8-0 run midway through the first half to break a 17-17 tie on the way to a 46-32 halftime advantage. The Pioneers closed to within eight early in the second half, but Chicago stretched it to as many as 17 with eight minutes remaining.

Matt Corning led Chicago with 29 points, while Nate Hainje added 21. Each had six reobunds in the win. Jake Pancratz added 11 points and Kohn Kinsella finished with 10. Adam Manchones paced the Maroons with five assists.

Transylvania shot just under 57 percent from the floor and were paced by Joey Verax with 33 points on 13-of-18 shooting. Tim Tierney dished out six assists and Brian Swan had four rebounds.
