January 22, 2006, Atlanta, Ga. - The DePauw women's basketball team, ranked ninth in the latest Division III Coaches' Poll and 10th by D3hoops.com, improved to 17-1 overall and 7-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 88-60 victory at Oglethorpe. The win was the Tigers' 16th straight, equaling the third longest in school history. The Stormy Petrels dropped to 14-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
Oglethorpe led by as many as eight early at 17-9, but the Tigers went on a 10-2 run to tie the game at 19-19. Suzy Doughty's three-point play with 35 seconds left in the half lifted DePauw to a 39-36 halftime margin.
The Tigers opened the second half with a 24-9 run to extend the lead to 63-45 with 12:48 remaining. DePauw then gradually built the margin to as many as 29.
Liz Bondi led the Tigers with 21, while Cassie Pruzin notched a career high with 18 points. Bridget Bailey posted her second double-double with 13 points and a career-high equaling 11 rebounds. Doughty rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points and a game-high seven assists.
Biz Richman and Katie Kulavic each scored 12 for the Stormy Petrels with Richman adding 10 rebounds for the double-double. Erin Flynn added 10 points in the loss.
The Tigers connected on 48.6 percent for the game including 59.4 percent from three-point range and held Oglethorpe to 35.7 percent and just 29.2 percent in the second half.
DePauw returns to action on Friday, January 27, when it hosts Southwestern at 6 p.m.
