December 21, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw junior guard Suzy Doughty scored a career-high 22 and recorded a career-best seven steals as the Tigers, ranked 10th in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches' Poll and 13th by d3hoops.com, defeated visiting Webster 84-44.
The Tigers, off to the best start in school history, improved to 9-1 with their eighth straight victory. Webster dropped to 4-5 with the loss.
DePauw never trailed and went to the intermission with a 36-19 advantage. The Gorloks got as close as 16 early in the second half, but the Tigers used a 16-2 run over a five-minute stretch to put the game out of reach.
Doughty led all scorers with her 22 on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor and also added five assists along with her seven steals. Gretchen Haehl followed with 10 points, while Bridget Bailey equaled a career high with a team-high 11 rebounds and Cassie Pruzin added five assists.
Ashley Patterson paced Webster with 11 points and three blocks, while Nikki Kassebaum added 10 points. Toni Picerno grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
The Tigers shot nearly 44 percent from the floor including 50 percent in the second half, while holding Webster to just 34 percent and only 25 percent in the first half. DePauw committed 12 turnovers, while Webster totaled 35 which led to 39 of the Tigers' points.
DePauw travels to Phoenix, Ariz., for the Grand Canyon Classic which begins with a 6 p.m. MST contest against Lewis & Clark on December 28. Webster returns to action on December 30 at Rose-Hulman.
