December 17, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Suzy Doughty equaled a career high with 19 points, while Liz Bondi posted a double-double of 18 points and a career-high 12 rebounds as 12th-ranked DePauw defeated Wittenberg 85-70. DePauw, off to its best start in school history at 8-1, won for the seventh straight time. Wittenberg dropped to 4-4 with the loss.
Wittenberg built an early 13-8 lead before the Tigers scored eight straight to take the lead for good. The visiting Tigers closed to within one at 18-17, but a 6-0 DePauw run pushed the lead to seven. DePauw led by as many as 15 in the first half and went to the intermission with a 37-24 advantage.
Wittenberg opened the second half with a 10-3 run over the first three minutes to trim DePauw's lead to 40-34, but DePauw put together a 20-7 stretch over the next 7:20 to take its biggest lead of the game at 60-41. Wittenberg got as close as eight at 74-66 with 3:16 remaining, but Bondi scored on a layup and Doughty knocked down a three to seal the victory.
In addition to her game-high 19 points, Doughty recorded a career-high six steals and dished out four assists. Bondi's double-double was the third of the season. Kalei Lowes followed with a career-high 14 in the win.
Ali Rohlfs led Wittenberg with 18 followed by Megan Miller with 14. Rohlfs and Katie Gregorevich each grabbed seven boards as DePauw held a 44-42 edge on the glass.
The Tigers shot 43 percent from the floor to Wittenberg's 40 percent which included 9-of-18 shooting from three-point range. DePauw equaled a season low with just eight turnovers, while Wittenberg turned it over 21 times leading to 31 of DePauw's points.
DePauw hosts Webster on Wednesday, December 21 at 6 p.m., while Wittenberg hosts Manchester on December 29 at 3 p.m.
