19th-ranked DePauw wins season opener over Illinois Wesleyan

November 18, 2005, St. Louis, Mo. - DePauw, ranked 19th in the USA Today/ESPN preseason poll and 22nd by D3hoops.com, opened the 2005-06 season with a 72-60 win over Illinois Wesleyan at the Washington (Mo.) Tipoff Tournament. The Tigers face host Washington on Saturday at 4 p.m. CST. The Bears defeated Coe, 80-44, in tonight's second game.

Liz Bondi paced the Tigers with a career-high 21, while Cassie Pruzin scored 13 in her collegiate debut and Caitlin McGonigal added 10 in the victory.

The Tigers led by as many as 14 in the first half and still held a 38-35 advantage at the break before the Titans opened the second half by scoring the first five points to take a 40-38 lead. Midway through the second half the Tigers used a 7-0 run to push a 59-55 lead to double digits. DePauw limited Illinois Wesleyan to just five points over the final 10 minutes.

Amanda Glerum led Illinois Wesleyn with 16 points followed by Mallory Heydorn with 11 and Heidi Harnisch with 10.

DePauw outrebounded Illinois Wesleyan 46-38 and were led by Lindsay Houin with 12 and Bondi with seven. Val Fleishcmann and Crystal Dye led the Titans with six each. Suzy Doughty paced DePauw with seven assists with Glerum totaling four for Illinois Wesleyan.
