Georgetown, Texas - Six DePauw players scored in double figures as the Tigers rolled to a 94-67 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over host Southwestern. DePauw, ranked 18th in the latest coaches' poll and 24th by D3hoops.com, improved to 17-3 overall and 8-1 in the SCAC with its seventh straight win, while the Pirates dropped to 11-9 overall and 5-4 in the SCAC.
Tria Yoder paced the Tigers with a career-high 18 points, while Colleen Powers added 15 and Sarah Zondor scored 14. Amy Argetsinger added 13 followed by Lindsay Houin and Jordan Cuddy with 12 apiece. Houin matched a career high with 11 rebounds and Powers hauled down 10 as each recorded double-doubles. Rex Ann Shotwell and Kristen Johnson each scored 14 to lead Southwestern.
The Tigers trailed 26-25 midway through the first half, but scored 13 straight to take a 12-point lead which they still held at the break at 48-36.
The Pirates closed the margin to five early in the second half at 54-49, but DePauw scored the next seven to start a 27-5 run over a seven-minute span which put the game away.
DePauw connected on 52 percent from the floor including 56 percent in the second half and 60 percent (9-15) from three-point range, while Southwestern shot just 41 percent from the field. The Tigers held a 49-35 advantage on the boards and hauled down 18 on the offensive glass.
Suzy Doughty led the Tigers with a career-high seven assists and joined Yoder with a game-high three assists. Priyanka Kainthla led the Pirates with five rebounds, while Erika Dunkman dished out sevent assists.
DePauw travels to first-place Trinity on Sunday in a battle of nationally-ranked teams. Trinity, 18-1 overall and 8-0 in the SCAC, is ranked second in the coaches' poll and third by D3hoops.com. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. CST. The live WGRE broadcast may be accessed here.
