Sixth-ranked DePauw wins sixth straight to advance to Shootout title

December 21, 2004, Las Vegas, Nev. - The sixth-ranked Tigers improved to 7-1 with a 71-59 win over 25th-ranked Ripon (7-1) in the D-3 Desert Shootout. DePauw advances to the Wednesday's championship game where they will face Wisconsin-Stout. The Blue Devils defeated Union (N.Y.) 65-56 in tonight's first game. The championship game will tipoff at 5:45 p.m. PST and may be heard live on WGRE.

Sarah Zondor led the Tigers with 13 points, while Amy Argetsinger followed with 11 and Lindsay Houin added 10. Amanda Guay paced the Redhawks with 22 with Karalyn Dehn adding 12.

The Tigers led by as many as 12 in the first half and took a 34-26 advantage into the break. The Redhawks scored the first eight points of the second half to knot the score at 34-34 before the Tigers scored the next 17 over a 6:43 stretch to take a 51-34 lead with 11:07 remaining.

That lead reached as many as 18 on two occasions with the last coming at 58-40. Ripon put together an 11-2 run to close the Tigers lead to 60-51 with less than three minutes to play. Ripon got no closer than eight the rest of the way.

DePauw hit 44 percent from the floor to Ripon's 43 percent, but they outscored the Redhawks at the line 17-5 and hit six of 10 three-pointers with the Redhawks knocking down just two of 12.
