GREENCASTLE, Ind. - Host DePauw shot just 20 percent in the second half, while Washington (Mo.) connected on 58 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes to defeat the Tigers 71-56 in the championship game of the DePauw Tipoff Tournament.

The game was a battle of two teams ranked in the top 10 in Division III as the Tigers entered the season ranked seventh in the coaches' poll and eighth by D3hoops.com, while the Bears were sixth in the coaches' rankings and 10th by D3hoops.com.

DePauw jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the opening seven minutes with five different players scoring. The Bears whittled away at the deficit before Katie Benson knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to give Washington its first lead at 24-23 with 6:19 left in the half.

The Bears closed the half by scoring five straight as Danielle Beehler scored on a layup and Leslie Berger knocked down a three with one second left to send Washington to a 37-34 halftime advantage.

Washington maintained the lead in the second half and scored seven straight over a two-minute stretch to push the margin to 12 at 54-42. DePauw closed to within six at 57-51 when Amy Argetsinger scored with 8:08 remaining. The Bears then pulled away with nine straight capped by Berger's three-pointer with 6:10 left to make it 66-51.

Beehler and Berger paced the Bears with 16 points apiece, while Benson added 15 and Herald followed with 10. Sarah Zondor was DePauw's lone double-figure scorer with 21.

DePauw had a 36-30 advantage on the boards and grabbed 19 on the offensive glass. Argetsinger led the Tigers with seven while Beehler grabbed a game-high 10 for Washington to complete the double-double.

The Bears shot 51 percent for the game, while DePauw connected on just 33 percent and committed 22 turnovers in the loss. Schell paced Washington with five assists, while Kelly Manning blocked a game-high four shots.

In the consolation contest, Illinois Wesleyan battled back from as much as a 17-point second half deficit to force overtime against Kalamazoo, but the Hornets outscored the Titans 17-9 in the extra session to claim the 79-71 victory.

Kalamazoo's Mary Brown and Ashley Riley recorded double-doubles with 21 points and 11 rebounds apiece. Lindsay Basler added 11 and Therese Demres scored 10. Heidi Harnisch paced Illinois Wesleyan with 16 points followed by Amanda Glerum with 15 and Val Fleishman with 12.
