Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Rhodes scored six points in a span of 51 seconds to reduce an eight-point deficit to just two with 46 seconds left, but the 19th-ranked Tigers held on for a 75-71 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win.
The victory, DePauw's sixth straight and 12th in the last 13 games, lifted the Tigers' record to 17-3 overall and 9-1 in the SCAC. Rhodes slipped to 10-8 overall and 6-4 in the SCAC.
A tightly-contested first half that included six ties and 10 lead changes ended with DePauw leading 34-32.
The Tigers opened the second half with a 13-1 run over the first 3:38 to take a 49-35 lead. They still led 70-59 after Amy Argetsinger's layup with 3:45 left.
Rosemary Boner hit one of two free throws before Anna Kizer knocked down a pair and added a three to make it 70-65 with 2:45 remaining. Argetsinger hit two free throws and Dana Ferguson one to push the lead back to eight at 73-65 with 2:02 left.
Kizer hit two free throws with 1:37 left and Jayna Kelly scored on a layup after a DePauw turnover to make it 73-69 with 1:06 remaining. Rachel Hettinger's steal led to an offensive rebound put-back by Kizer that closed the DePauw lead to 73-71 with 46 seconds left.
Tria Yoder then hit one of two free throws with 18 seconds left before the Lynx missed a layup with 10 seconds remaining. Ferguson knocked down one free throw with seven seconds left to secure the win.
Argetsinger finished with a career-high 21 points, including 16 in the second half, and a game-high eight rebounds. Ferguson scored 12 and Sarah Zondor added 11.
Kizer led all scorers with 26, while Taylor Cook finished with 19 for the Lynx.
DePauw hosts Hendrix on Sunday, February 9, at 3 p.m. and Rhodes travels to Rose-Hulman for a 3 p.m. contest.
