Junior Sarah Zondor scored a career-high 30 points to lead 19th-ranked DePauw to a 74-52 win over Kalamazoo in the Kalamazoo Klassic. The Tigers improved to 9-2 with the win, while Kalamazoo dropped to 7-4.

Zondor hit 11 of 15 field goal tries including 4 of 7 from three-point range and scored 17 in the first half to lead three DePauw double-digit scorers. Her 30 points were the most by a DePauw player since Susan Bender scored 31 in an NCAA second-round win over Baldwin-Wallace in 1998. Amy Argetsinger followed with 12 and Jordan Cuddy totaled 10.

The Tigers broke open a close game in the first half as they extended a 24-23 lead with a 9-0 run that included four points from Argetsinger, three from Cuddy and two from Zondor. DePauw led at the break by a 40-28 count.

Zondor hit a couple of threes early in the second half to help build a 15-point DePauw advantage, but the host Hornets battled back to close to within eight points on three occasions. After Sara Lappan's bucket cut the Tigers lead to 55-47 with 6:33 remaining, DePauw scored nine straight again to put the game away.

Lindsay Houin started the run with a jumper, while Argetsinger scored on a layup before Zondor knocked down two free throws and a three-pointer to make it 64-47 with 2:53 left.

The Tigers shot 47 percent from the field and held Kalamazoo to just 33 percent. DePauw connected on 54 percent of its first-half attempts. The Tigers hit 8 of 17 three-pointers and missed just twice in 18 free throw attempts.

Mary Brown paced the Hornets with 14, while Angie Neu and Sarah Sleder each added 10. The Tigers held a 40-26 rebound advantage with Mandy Harrison snagging a career-best nine. Ashley Riley hauled down nine for Kalamazoo. Tria Yoder and Harrison each had four assists for the Tigers and Brown dished out a game-high six for the Hornets. Zondor added a career-high four steals.

DePauw returns to action on Monday, January 5, when it travels to Rose-Hulman for a 6 p.m. contest in the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game of the year.
